Facilities Time Report
Under the Trade Union (Facility Time Publication Requirements) Regulations 2017 public sector employers with more than 49 full-time equivalent employees are required to publish information every year regarding trade union facility time. Facility time is the provision of paid or unpaid time off from an employee's normal role to undertake trade union duties and activities as a trade union representative. This could include accompanying an employee to disciplinary or grievance hearing, or training received and duties carried out under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. There is a statutory entitlement to reasonable paid time off for undertaking union duties, and Crofton School values the close working relationships we have with regional and local Trade Union representatives, as well as our internal workplace representatives. We understand and appreciate the benefit of good trade union relations in the workplace. The purpose of the regulations is to promote transparency and public scrutiny of Facility Time, to ensure that taxpayers’ money is spent appropriately and represents value for money. Crofton meets its statutory obligations to provide facility time to trade union representatives by pooling resources with other schools and academies within Hampshire County Council to cover the time spent by trade union representatives across a number of different employers. We therefore publish facility time information as the total cost of our contribution to pooled facility time expressed as a percentage of our total pay bill for the relevant period: Below is a summary the period 1 April 2021 to 31 March 2022.
