The SEND provision at Crofton school is recognised as providing excellent personalised learning for all our students. We are looking for an exceptional colleague to join our highly motivated team working with students with Autism. You would be working in ‘The Croft’, our Resourced Provision for identified students, as well as working with the students in the classroom and supporting them with social, emotional, communication and language needs.
The successful candidate will focus on helping to improve emotional well-being, progress and raise attainment for our students in close association with our teaching staff. Previous experience of working with young people with autism is desirable, as is a good understanding of autism and how it affects the learning of students.
The ability to work as part of a team is essential. This is an exciting but challenging role and a strong team approach is essential. You will need a good sense of humour, resilience, determination and patience. We use therapeutic approaches alongside mainstream learning, so the ability to join in with sensory interventions, outdoor learning and other initiatives is a must! If you can nurture and support individual students in The Croft, whilst having the flexibility and confidence to find ways to help them engage with their learning then this could be the post for you.
This is an exciting time to join us at Crofton; we are a happy and ambitious school, excited about our journey to become exceptional. We are part of HISP Multi Academy Trust, who believe in building excellent educational environments that inspire and unlock potential in all our school communities. Their ethos is one of sustainable school improvement; and schools joining the trust do so with the aim of improving themselves and each other through the development and embedding of a professional continuum.
Crofton School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this commitment. References will be taken up for those candidates short-listed for interview. The successful candidate will be subject to Disclosure and Barring Service checks along with other relevant employment checks.
