Last week, our students enjoyed a dynamic and enriching PDL Drop Down Day, designed to focus on Personal Development Learning outside the usual curriculum. The day was packed with age-appropriate talks on Relationships and Sex Education (RSE), a large Careers Fair, and practical lessons on Personal Finance and Enterprise.
Students also engaged in teamwork activities and had a reflective Religious Education (RE) experience centered around the theme of homelessness, fostering empathy and understanding.
Adding a fun and healthy twist to the day, students could make their own fruit smoothies during breaks using our smoothie bike. A special thank you to ASDA, the Fruit Basket, and Stubbington Coop for their generous fruit donations.
The afternoon allowed students to reflect on the day's activities and discuss the General Election happening that same day. They also participated in their own democratic process, voting for next year’s Student Leadership Team after watching a series of professionally created promotional videos. It was a valuable opportunity for students to engage in democracy and leadership within the school community.
Taking a break from the regular timetable to focus on these essential life skills and development matters was refreshing and beneficial for all. Our normal fortnightly PDL lessons will resume this Thursday, continuing our commitment to comprehensive student development.
